COGS

UE Local 896/COGS (Campaign to Organize Graduate Students) is a labor union representing approximately 2,500 Teaching and Research Assistants at the University of Iowa. We are a democratic, rank-and-file union, and adhere to the basic principle that The Members Run This Union!

Organized in 1996, the members of UE Local 896/COGS dedicate themselves to the fight for just salaries, benefits and working conditions for all Teaching and Research Assistants.

UE-COGS is affiliated with the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America, an independent national union that represents thousands of workers in manufacturing, public sector and private non-profit sector jobs.
